PLEASURE SHOW CLINIC!
Saturday, April 4, 2015
Moore County Driving Club has been afforded a rare opportunity! Well-known driver, trainer, judge and horseman Steve Holm has agreed to present a Pleasure Clinic to our members. Steve has been training and showing driving horses and ponies since he was a child growing up in Wisconsin. Over the past forty-five years, he has worked with Hackney horses and ponies, Morgans, Warmbloods, Welsh ponies, Friesians and several other breeds, for a variety of owners throughout the United States.
Teams trained by Steve have won the coaching championship at the Devon Horse Show a record eleven times. Those teams also have retired every trophy in the Devon coaching division, several of them twice. Steve has trained the turnout that won the Devon pleasure marathon championship seven times, and has won championships at the Royal Winter Fair, the National Horse Show, Walnut Hill, the Kentucky State Fair and the Wisconsin State Fair, where he won his first state championship at age twelve.
Steve is an American Driving Society judge as well as a board member and past vice president of the Carriage Association of America. He has given driving seminars and workshops throughout the United States and Canada. In 2010, Steve had the honor of judging four-in-hand presentation at the World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky. He is also a Master Evaluator for the Carriage Association of America’s Driving Proficiency Program.
The clinic will take place at Big Sky Farm (with thanks to our good friend Clair Reid) on April 4, 2015. Coffee and Doughnuts will be served starting at 9:30 AM. Steve will present several topics, with time for questions and answers. Schedule:
10:00 AM-Stress Free Show Prep
11:00 AM-Reading the Judge’s Mind
11:30 AM-Safety- First, Last and Always
Noon-We invite you to join in a covered dish lunch. We know our members are awesome cooks and look forward to sharing fellowship and food together.
After lunch Steve offers eight half-hour private lessons at $30.00 each. Auditing will be free, and at the end of the lesson session Steve will be glad to discuss the drives with the drivers and auditors. Steve’s usual lesson fee is $65.00, so you can see what a gift this is to his fellow club members. To register for one of the private lessons, or ask and questions about the Clinic, contact Aggie Cohen at firstname.lastname@example.org or
