From Aggie Cohen:Well, The Sunday, June 25, Sunburn series certainly lived up to its name. Despite a heavy rain the night before, we still battled not only our own driving demons, but the heat and sun. Big Sky Farm and our friend Claire Reid hosted us, and made us welcome with immaculate grounds as always. The weather did not wilt the will of the contestants nor the spirit of our amazing volunteers. Dottie Greenleaf was our event secretary and Tim Williams did an amazing job scoring. Jeanette Van Mills was our Dressage judge, and I couldn’t take exception to any of her remarks or scores; they were right on. She was ably assisted by scribe Joannie Wilson, who gave us all a cheery smile as we came down the center line. Our own Tommy Doonan judged cones and managed the pushers. Diane McKay was his scribe and Steven Preble timed (and resisted all bribes, even extra doughnuts). Pushers were: Randy Jane Crosier, Sandy Johannesen, Leslie Yarbrough, Bill Scot and Walter Lavalle. Please note that a few of these fine volunteers were “volunteered” at the last moment, with little chance decline their services, and still served cheerfully. A wonderful lunch was provided by Claire and Gail Gittelson. Anyone who left early and missed lunch made a big mistake. Delicious food and good company were available at the secretary’s office! We had several new friends turn out to compete, and where very pleased to welcome them to the MCDC family. David Cohen and Craig Kellogg get a special nod for toting and hauling. The cones corse, with a few small tweaks, was the same as used for the Peter Fischer Clinic that the Club sponsored for the week before the show, and Peter’s special touch showed in the added brilliance of those who were lucky enough to participate.
